Mixed Breed CVPI - Frank096 - 03-28-2017 12:48 AM

Hey guys - I posted earlier that I am looking for a Panther - came a cross someone who tells me the CVPI he has for sale was originally a P74 car that was then loaded with all the P71 features. Owner claims it has 75 more HP than a regular P71. I'm not buying his story on the HP but I might buy the car because it's really clean and low miles. Anyone have verification on a P74/P71 mixed breed Panther? Thanks in advance.

Anytime a red flag goes up ,I walk away . Good luck !!

P74 was the lx option. Hp is not much different from the p71. Depending on the lx option hpp or sport they came with handlng packages and dual exhaust. P71 has stiffer springs, sits higher, ecm is programmed a little different, trac loc on some, maf and zip tube. Ask him what specific items from a p71 were installed.

Tobias - thanks for the clarification. I had heard the same as above from another source and, thus, my doubts about the HP claim. Trust but verify! Thanks.

Walk away. It's not impossible a police agency ordered an LX CV for administrative purposes, but what P71 features would they "add" that they couldn't have gotten by just ordering a P71/P7B to begin with? This one doesn't smell right.

75+ means either cams, other engine work or forced induction.
I'm sure it's just words coming out the sellers behind. See if he'll share the details, see how much water it holds.

This isn't necessarily helpful at all, but is this the car?

That would be the one. Looks to be in very nice shape, miles are low - an '03 so no idea as to idle hours. If it's your car, no offense meant but it's like carpentry - measure twice, cut once!

Nope, not my car but it's the same seller I bought mine from in February.

Even though I just bought a car I can't help but window shop on Craigslist. When I read your post it reminded me of that listing so I had to ask, haha

If I were considering buying it, I'd get the VIN from the seller and decode it, see how it was originally built then compare that to what's currently on the car.
