Hello, my name is Mike from Peoria, AZ. I am new to this board and new with owning a Grand Marquis. In fact, I have only put 40 miles on my car since I inherited it 15 months ago. While I was driving the car in my neighborhood, I rear ended a car and damaged the front bumper cover. Since it needs to be repaired, will a MM front bumper cover, and headlights a direct replacement on my GM? Its a 2004 GM with 65k miles, brownish paint, and tan leather interior. It runs perfect. I'm trying to learn how to post it here. I will wait until the new bumper cover is installed

Its not my daily driver, Its not fast, and my kids are fighting about who is NOT getting it when I pass away. Haha. But, I am keeping it forever. I'm hoping to do some upgrades on the car and pique some interest from the kids and open their eyes to something different. It would make a good father, sons project and see what I see.

I'm a newbie to this site and I'm sure there are hundreds of links on this site that can answer my questions that I'm about to ask. Since the size of this website is overwhelming with knowledge, I'm hoping some members can refer me to certain posts so navigating through this beast of a site that's a wealth of knowledge wont take forever.

Its been a real pleasure to post a thread here and I'm looking forward to read your past threads. Mike

Name's Chris, I'm a graphic designer from Oklahoma. Just picked up my first Vic after years of wanting one. Picked up a 2007 Toreador CVPI SAP with 65,227 miles & 139 idle hours. Named him Frank, see if you can guess the reference Wink Anywho, loving the car, especially after having the column recall done on it. Glad to meet yall and to finally be a member of the Panther Community!

I got a retired CHP 2011 P7B with 165k miles and 3k ildle hrs a few months ago. CHP either had an unlimited maintenance budget, or mine was pampered. Im kind of a ford guy I guess. Even shopping for something else lands me in another ford. 89 notch project. 87 Thunderbird TC. 90 GT 460 big block project. 05 F-150 that didnt like a spark plug. And now my 11 CVPI. No better time to start another project when I got so few unfinished. Ill share all my CVPI shade tree mishaps, and certified internet mechanic knowledge that I have. (if I can squeeze it in between adult web pages and gaming. My wife and rugrat cut into thoes a lot as it is.) Im a pretty good turd polisher. I just sold a $350 Scion xB project. (I miss it. Always wanted one) My big block fox build is here, but photobucket did its money grab thing. Anyways... hey.

Hey everyone. I'm John, and started driving the Crown Vic patrol cars as a rookie in Feb 1998. I've literally put tens and tens of thousands of miles on the squad cars over my career. As I close that chapter on my life and look at retiring and starting a second career, I wanted to get a clean Crown Vic or Grand Marquis to drive into my retirement.

I picked up a VERY clean, one owner 2003 Light Tundra Grand Marquis GS this week with 123,000 miles. The original owners were elderly, and took care of this car! Garaged, equipped with new Michelins, so clean you could eat off the dash! Paint is perfect! Carfax shows no accidents.

The plans are to put dual exhaust, 17" mustang wheels, and tint the windows. After reading some posts, it looks like I should take the stainless wheel arch covers off before I move to Virginia next spring to prevent rust issues. Eventually, I'd like to put thicker front and rear sway bars.

New guy - have Grand Marquis questions

Hi all. I'm thinking about having a spare car around to limit some of the miles I've been putting on my CTS-V Wagon. I have been fond of the panther platform ever since I ended up with some crown vics as rentals a few years back.

Now I'm looking at Grand Marquis' and it seems that there are plenty of super clean early 4th gens with under 150k miles and going for $3500 and less. I'm leaning towards a GS because having leather interior in Phoenix sucks and I'm not a fan of airbags either. I have a few questions before I jump into one. They are:

What exactly does the HPP give you suspension wise? I see you get a lower gear ratio, dual exhaust, 17" rims, maybe a different torque converter?..but are the springs and shocks different? What about swaybars? I guess the rear springs are airbags too?

Any specific things I need to look for when looking at a car? Specific suspension pieces that are known to wear..engine or other issues? I think '03's have bad rear ends if they are pre 1/03.

Is there an issue that I need to look for timing chain tensioner wise on the '03's? I think there was a TSB.

I like the '06 and up gauge cluster better than the '03-'05. Can I swap the later one from a junkyard in if I get ? Yes, I know I need to deal with the odometer.

Are junkyard parts for suspension upgrades plentiful? I'm thinking bigger swaybars, or a 3:27 rear diff.

Anything else that would steer me towards one year vs. another?

What ever happened with the whole exploding gas tank issue?

Thanks all!
