Hello from Toronto. I recently aquired a 2009 P71 that was used by the Ontario Provincial Police (they patrol the province's highways and provide policing for rural areas and places that don't have their own police depts). It has a 3:27 Trac-Loc axle. This particular P71 has an interesting history. The OPP had their 100th anniversary in 2009. To mark the occasion, they ordered 6 Street Appearance Package units (no spotlight, the chrome package, full wheel covers, but with the cloth buckets and rubber floor), then they added the usual cruiser equipment, push bars, light bars, cage, etc. These six cars were used for promotional events and holidays, events such as car shows, job fairs and the like. One is in the OPP museum. As far as I know, they were not used as normal highway cruisers, because of their pristine interiors and low miles and hours. Mine had 96,000 kilometres (60,000 miles) and only 576 hours. So it has all the police upgrades but was not beat on or abused. Drives great, much nicer than the regular OPP cruisers that I had test driven. Here is a pic of it, plus a couple from when they were in service. (mine's door number is 5-100).

Hi All -

I am new to the Panther platform. Have had a couple of Fords before, but that was many years ago. Attached is a pic of my new pride and joy, a 2004 P71. I was fortunate to find this car for sale with 2,924 original miles. No, that is not a typo. It was owned by the Virginia State Police, but as a range instructor's car, it was never really used. So it's pretty much a 13-year-old "new" car. It won't continue to stay parked though, as I'm now using it as my daily driver.

I don't have much planned for modifications yet, just focusing on learning about these cars. About the only thing I'd like to do at the moment is to put on some aftermarket mufflers to give it a little bit of an exhaust note. Nothing too raucous though. I was thinking about some Flowmaster Super 50's.

About her:
1990 Grand Marquis GS
5.0L V8
96,554 Original Miles
Crystal Blue Paint
All original parts (I assume, haven't had the chance to dive in yet)

New wheel set up (16/17's)
Fix Window regulator issue in front two
Bondo minor rust spots in rear wheel wells
Lower Suspension
New Upholstery
Replace/Upgrade Radio (Loses power randomly)

If you guys have any tips you can offer by all means go ahead since I'm a noob to the Merc life!

Thanks again!

Grew up riding in and working on Crown Vics, not that i wasnt a hoodlum and never spent any time in the back of a CVPI, my dad is retire LEO from smaller town where he had to maintain his own cruiser. Fast forward through 20+ years of Chevy rebellion, one mustang and a couple of f-series work trucks and now i have mutiple MGMs and looking to add a newer CVPI to the inventory... what can i say in a world full of tiny shoe box battery powered go-karts Im a big guy who likes big cars with big motors.

Post pics when able 98 is fugly at the moment guy in an 08 explorer made illegal uturn in front on me on HWY10 one morning and i slid under the rear bumper missed both airbag sensors buckled the core support and folded the hood up, she's bruised but drove her home keeping the fires stoked until i can put a new front clip and possibly heads, intake and pipes maybe throw in a few extra ponies for a pre-marauder marauder. Spent my insurance check paying cash for an 03 LS leather loaded still daily driver would like to add exhaust maybe few bolt on mods but not untill i get the patience to pull the friggen dash and change out a bust damper motor( gawd i hate those things)

Hi everyone newbie from Ky here. Always have loved Grand Marquis. First one I rode was my uncle's 1985 and it was the softest most comfortable ride I have ever had in any car. Ever since then I have always been into large sedans. A few years ago I had a 1993 Crown Vic Police Interceptor that was a little rough around the edges but still a nice ride. Sold it, but a few days ago bought a nice blue 2007 Grand Marquis at a used car lot I had been looking at a Deville and almost bought the Caddy but that car had like 200k on it and the Northstar engines freak me out. I bought the 07 Marquis. It has a little over 110k on it, but I don't mind that it is very clean inside and out, and rode like a cloud. There's some minor cosmetic things I will do to it and eventually maybe a slight tint job. The engine is very clean and runs like a sewing machine. I prefer RWD cars they just ride better to me.
