NASCAR driving experience
Figured I'd do something fun while in Vegas, so I looked up all the stuff at Las Vegas Speedway. There are fast cars you can drive on an inner track, and NASCARs you can take around the track. All over town you can rent sports cars, but you can drive them more faster at the track and not risk getting arrested.
So, I chose an 8 minute drive. I looked and saw that the car was a manual(the sports cars all had paddles), but I'd never driven one...I watched some videos though. Quick instruction in a classroom, then on to the track.
The cars are chipped in the ignition controller, so you don't get full speed unless you go for one of the big packages. I stalled twice before getting the car moving, but once it was going, I was a little better at the shifting. It's a 4 speed, so once you get going, you just stay in 4th.
I hit the rev limit a few times, it was set at 5k but these cars go a bit higher and up to around 180, I got clocked at just over 145.
I was amazed at the grip, never slowing down and whipping around the turns at 140 just seems crazy. I've driven autocross before, and with good tires(not racing tires) it doesn't take much to start sliding.

RE: NASCAR driving experience
I have never done the NASCAR experience. I would love to.
I am a huge motorsports fan and the thrill of turning the steering wheel at that speed is what sends tingles up my spine.
I am an adrenaline junkie fed by speed and G-forces.
I did the Bondurant school in Sonoma (Sears Point raceway)in the 80s'.
I drag race.
I have been 140+mph in less than 10 seconds.
I have done wheelies in a car.
I have rowed through the gears of some of the rarest Muscle cars ever built
I have worked on TRANS-AM race cars from the 90's.
I have tuned alcohol-injected BIG V8's in drag race cars.
I have driven a Porsche 928 S at full song around the 2.4 mile road course of Sears Point.

I have NEVER turned the steering wheel on a speedway at 140+ mph, so my resume is not nearly complete.

Good for you for having the attachments to do so...

Man, that had to be cool! How many laps did you get in?

My fat ass would get stuck trying to get in the car. Big Grin

5 laps. The driving suit wouldn't zip, but they are there to help if you need it, was a little harder getting out...helmet kept getting stuck.

RE: NASCAR driving experience
That's awesome. The only oval track experience I have is go-karts on the local short track (full oval!) and then for a 2013 CVN meet, they let our Panthers be the pace cars for all the heat and feature races.
