RE: Mercury Grand Marquis LS
One common issue to those cars is for the EGR channel under the intake plenum elbow to become gunked up and blocked.
If you remove the elbow somewhat regularly and clean out that channel it will eliminate this issue.
Usually you will get an "insufficient flow" code for the EGR that will not change after replacing the EGR valve and the EGR actuator.

Just a heads up

Any other issues, feel free to ask me, as I have been through nearly everything on my '93 MGM.

RE: Mercury Grand Marquis LS
That's interesting. I have a problem getting it to go when its cold. You sorta have to feather the accelerator till it winds up a little then is good. Not so much when its warm! Also getting a check engine after hard acceleration. I just assumed that was an O2 sensor. I tried pulling the codes but the flashes didn't coincide with the list. Thoughts!

Thanks for the info by the way!

Really? Every time i have used the "morse code" method it always worked fine. Cleaning your IAC valve might help with your cold running issue. The IAC valve is in kind of a shitty place compared to the newer cars where it is right out in the open.
Personally i would try and get those codes read and take care of the issue.
Did you use a multimeter when you did it? You can use that to read the flashes also.

My uncle has been a mechanic for 30+ years and he told me the same thing about the IAC valve. I hot wired the test port with a test light and watched the check engine light from inside the car. It was flashing right along with the test light. I just need to try it again. Had trouble following all the flashes!!! lol

Thank you for the info.

Very nice! Really dresses her up. What size wheel is that and what did it come off of?

RE: Mercury Grand Marquis LS
My understanding was that they were originally on a 67 mustangs, then on a later model stang. He put brand new Pirelli scorpion ice and snow tires on the to try to make the last mustang better in the snow and a month later he traded the car for a truck. They're 16" wheels but I had to use 1ΒΌ" spacers to get the out where they should be

They're not a factory wheel off anything.
