Mercury Grand Marquis GS
This car came to me via my Mother in Law. They bought her a new car and she asked if we wanted this one. So it was ours/MINE for the $45 title transfer fee. It has 88k on it and seems to run great.

I have been looking for a car that I can mess with, play with, do things to without feeling like I am messing with the family car. This wasn't the car that I would have picked probably and it's certainly is not the color I would have picked, but the price could not be beaten.

I have officially had the car registered to us today, and I have already gotten 4 new tires, 4 new speakers (the back ones are a pain to replace) and have ordered a new stereo head unit for it.

Those are the easy things. It does need a little work on the exterior and interior. But that is what I wanted anyway. So it will be fun to do them. I am happy that I have found this board and that so many people love these cars. With this group, this may just be the car I have been looking for.

RE: Mercury Grand Marquis GS
Thanks Guys,

It is not how I pictured starting out with a project car, but it's certainly going to give me stuff to do. I like the Crown Vic better as it's a little sportier looking. But I guess it's where i end up that counts. There are many things I am curious about with this car, but I will start with the basics. I need window tint (it's hot in Texas), It's pretty high and floaty, I would like it a little lower and stiffer i think. It's only a GS so it has cloth seats (i get shocked when i get out most of the time). I would like to find some leather seats, or maybe some decent seat covers. It has the bucket/bench seats though it looks like it might be hard to find seat covers that actually fit. Are the seats hard to replace if I found actual buckets? So many things... I need to make a list and pace myself... this could get expensive.

I am glad you like the color. it's good to know there are people who love it. I wish I was one of them. The interior is supposed to be medium beige i think. And when we were looking for a car my top two criteria were no red exterior, and no tan (pretty much every car we have had has been tan inside) interior. heh... so as you can see.. that worked out well.

The tan seats are almost grey though, so that is not bad.

And I love the late 90s Lincoln Mark VIII.. Beautiful in and out. I would take one of those.

It's funny, I've never really liked the look of a red car, but for some reason I love the look of the Panther in red. Go figure.

Cool car! It would've had a stock tachometer if it was a 2006, but I'm sure that's not hard to put in. I love how much room these cars have! And remember it may not be sporty, but a Mercury is classier than a Ford Smile

Classier probably. But i wanted sportier. But for $45 I can't complain to much. Im really becoming more conflicted about what to do with it. I want more sporty, but this color seems better suited to mostly stock.

I did mess around a little in paint (quick n dirty) and got this. Couldn't decide on wheels so i just grabbed something quick.
