Confused on the whole airbox upgrade thing
'03 MGM. I see folks mentioning a Marauder air box with an '04 CVPI Zip tube is what I want, but why can't I just snag a '05+ CVPI air box and zip tube? I understand that I'm going to need to add a second bung for the PCV, but what is incompatible other than that? Do these also have the 80mm MAF? Just trying to figure this out for my next adventure to the junkyard. Eventually I want to collect the intake and a 3.55 rear diff. Then I can swap and tune it.

The 05+ cvpi has the 80mm maf. I think the connector to the maf is different on the 03's i can't remember. You will need a tune after you install it.

It is what it is

RE: Confused on the whole airbox upgrade thing
I'll double check the connections, but the '03 has the IAT sensor built into the MAF like the later ones, so in theory I should be good. If my only issue with the '05+ CVPI is the second connector for PVC, then than is a super easy fix. I will put it to the side until I get gears. Once I score another diff, then I'll tune it.

Yes, the connector is different.
In 2005 all panthers got a slot style MAF(2004 for CVPI) which is quite different from the older one.

There is a wiring difference between the slot and cartridge MAF, there may be an adapter available but rewiring may be easier.

The intake tube really doesn't matter, the stock one will fit both the later airbox and your throttle body. The tube change is more for a little more intake noise and the appearance without those silencers hanging off. You would have to add the IAC connection since 2005+ it's controlled by the electronic throttle body instead of a valve on the plenum.

Ahh, now it all makes sense. The newer MAF has the smaller connector, while the Marauder MAF has the same connector as mine, yet is 80mm. Not even sure if I could scale the other MAF correctly with the older ECU even if I did adapt it.

The Marauder MAF plugs right in which is why some say it's easier, then you need a tune to use it on your car or you will run lean.
All you need is a tune to change MAF, I have a slot MAF in my car...
